It’s Your Life

The movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life”
depicts a story about a man named George Bailey who gets a chance to see if
his life was lived in vain.  Towards the end of the movie, George makes the
statement that everyone he knew would be better off if he had never been
born.  From that moment on, in the movie, George gets to see what his family,
his friends, and even the town he lived in would have become without him.
By the end of the movie George realizes that his life has touched many people
and has changed the outlook of his entire community, now he is
overwhelmed.  He got that rare opportunity to realize that he had not lived in
vain, and everything he did was to advance others.  Here we are at the end of
yet another year and whether you want to look or not, we have one of those
rare opportunities to see if all we have done this year is in vain.
We live in a world with a system that is set up for us to fail.
A system in which we cannot win!  The world’s way of
doing things is an automatic failure and yet we try to grasp all that it offers.
Want to see what I mean?
Tell me what you have accomplished this year;
was it a new job or advancement at the job you are now at.
Did you acquire a new house, a new truck or car?
Did you take a vacation at Disneyland?
When you look back this year, what stands out the most?
What is the first thing that comes to your mind?
Have you reached the end of 2006 and think you have made another year
with no illness?  There might be something else that comes to your mind
when you look back over the last year.
George Bailey thought the people around him would be better off if he hadn’t
been born, but then he gets the chance to see how many lives he had
touched and the difference he had made in the lives of so many people.

That is the system we should be operating under, investing in others.

A new job, advancement up the corporate ladder, new vehicles, or even a new
house is no way to measure your success over this last year.
Tell me whose life you have made a difference in.
Tell me someone who would stand and say if it had not
been for something you had done,
then they would not have made it through last year.
You see this system we are in is set up for you and me to fail,
but when we step into God’s system and start investing in others,
well you just cannot fail doing things Gods’ way.
